MINNEAPOLIS (Dec. 12, 2008) – Music Go Round guitar instructor and real-life “guitar hero” Todd Duane, who lives in Cottage Grove, MN and teaches at the retailer’s Woodbury and St. Paul stores, was recognized as the world’s third fastest guitar “shredder” (shredding is generally defined as the act of playing fast passages on an electric guitar) in the NPS Clocking Report, which was recently published in Guitar Player Magazine. The study ranked top shredders according to their average number of notes played per second. Duane’s average was 16.5 to 17.
“The Guitar Hero video game has sparked a lot of interest nationally among young players who decide they want to learn how to play the real thing,” said Music Go Round director, Tim Kletti. “Todd is not only an incredibly gifted player, he’s also a skilled instructor with more than 12 years of experience teaching individuals of all ages how to play the guitar. He’s a phenomenal talent as well as a tremendous resource and inspiration for all guitar enthusiasts.”
Kletti added, “This award is a testament to the caliber of talent that Music Go Round stores attract as instructors in our stores around the country. Our stores are a great place for music lovers to find affordable, high-quality used and new musical equipment and accessories, as well as to learn to play. Even more, customers can trade up for great deals on more advanced equipment as their skills improve.”
