MINNEAPOLIS (Dec. 12, 2008) – Music Go Round guitar instructor and real-life “guitar hero” Rusty Cooley, who lives in Houston, TX and teaches at the retailer’s Conroe, TX store, was recognized as the world’s fifth fastest guitar “shredder” (shredding is generally defined as the act of playing fast passages on an electric guitar) in the NPS Clocking Report, which was recently published in Guitar Magazine.
The study ranked top shredders according to their average number of notes played per second. Averaging 16 notes per second, Cooley tied with nine other leading shredders for fifth place ranking. He is consistently regarded as a top national talent as a player – he even his own signature Dean Guitar – and as a leading instructor with more than 12 years of experiencing teaching his craft.
“The Guitar Hero video game has sparked a lot of interest nationally among young players who decide they want to learn how to play the real thing,” said Music Go Round director, Tim Kletti. “Rusty is not only a incredibly fast guitar player, he’s also a skilled instructor with more than x years of experience teaching individuals of all ages how to play the guitar. He’s a phenomenal talent as well as a tremendous resource and inspiration for all guitar enthusiasts.”
