Description

Background history: Gibson made a Les Paul with an SG body shape starting in 1961, and the "Les Paul" name was used on these guitars until 1963. The redesigned model was a response to the original Les Pauls being considered too heavy and bulky, and it featured a thinner, double-cutaway body. Gibson officially dropped the Les Paul name from this model in late 1963 and renamed it the SG (Solid Guitar).
