This 1972 Fender Stratocaster is one of the nicest condition 70's strats we have had in our store. The 6-digit serial number (383162) is from Fender's production during the CBS era. These early 70's strats feature the 3-bolt neck attachment, a "bullet" truss rod adjustment, and a large headstock.
Key Features of this 1972 Fender Stratocaster:
- Serial Number: Located on the 3-bolt neck plate, starting with a '3' or '4' for 1972.
- Neck Profile: comfortable medium "C" shape.
- Headstock: Large "CBS" style with a bold Fender logo and "bullet" truss rod nut.
- Pickups: Grey-bottom, staggered pole-piece pickups are standard for this period.
- Electronics: 3-way pickup selector was standard, though many have been updated to 5-way switches.
- Body Finish: Often finished in poly-sealer with a nitrocellulose top coat, leading to unique aging/checking.
