The Pro Co RAT is a legendary, hard-clipping distortion pedal known for its immense versatility, producing tones that range from a subtle, dynamic overdrive to a heavy, fuzz-like saturation. Introduced in the late 1970s, it features a distinct three-knob layout and sits perfectly between a standard overdrive and a heavy fuzz.

Core Controls

The RAT’s defining feature is its highly interactive three-knob control panel:

• Distortion: Controls the amount of gain and saturation. The RAT has a massive gain range; the first quarter of the dial yields an amp-like overdrive, while dimeing the knob gets you into blown-out fuzz territory.
