There is often confusion around this specific era. This is not a standalone Squier guitar; it is a genuine Fender-branded instrument.

During the mid-1990s, Fender used a distinct black headstock decal for this budget-conscious line. The main Fender logo is written in solid black, and a small, script "Squier Series" logo is located on the ball tip of the headstock (though many owners later sanded the Squier part off out of snobbery)
