The instrument features a durable ABS resin body, offering a robust alternative to traditional wooden bassoons, making it suitable for students and enduring travel or outdoor use. The ABS resin is resistant to damage from temperature and humidity fluctuations while also being durable against regular wear and tear. 

The JBN1000 boasts a full German (Heckel) key system, which includes 22 silver-plated keys with numerous trill keys and rollers – features typically found on intermediate and professional models. Specific keywork includes: 

• High D key
• Plateau C key on the third finger of the wing joint
• F# and C# trill keys
• C#–D# and F–Ab roller keys
