The Ibanez AEG12II-NMH, also known as the Ibanez AEG1211-NMH, is an acoustic-electric guitar designed as a stage-ready instrument with a focus on comfortable playability for electric guitarists transitioning to acoustic instruments. 

Key features

• Body: The guitar features an AEG series slender body, a concert-sized body shape with a soft Venetian cutaway.
• Wood: The AEG12II-NMH boasts an all-mahogany construction, including a solid mahogany top, back, and sides. However, some models produced in late 2014 had a laminated flamed maple or flamed sycamore top with sapele back and sides.
• Neck: The neck is crafted from mahogany and has a comfortable satin finish.
• Fretboard: The fretboard is made of rosewood with special position markers.
• Bridge: The bridge is also made of rosewood.
• Electronics: A Fishman Sonicore pickup and an Ibanez AEQ-SP1 preamp deliver amplified acoustic tones. The preamp includes a 3-band EQ and an onboard tuner for quick and discreet tuning.
• Scale Length: The scale length is 25".
• Frets: The fretboard has 21 frets.
• Hardware: The guitar features chrome Ibanez die-cast tuning machines with half-moon buttons, a plastic saddle, Ibanez Advantage bridge pins, and a plastic nut.
• Finish: The AEG12II-NMH comes in a Natural High Gloss finish. 

History

The AEG12II was introduced in late 2014 and was produced in China. There were some changes to the wood used in later versions of the guitar: 

• 2018: The back and sides were changed from mahogany to sapele, and the top was also changed to sapele in some markets.
• 2019: The rosewood fretboard and bridge were replaced with laurel, balsamo wood, or walnut, and the mahogany neck was replaced with nyatoh. The change to a sapele top became worldwide.
• 2020: The AEG12II was discontinued in the US market, and only the walnut fretboard and bridge remained as options.
