Used Gibson ES-125 Vintage P90 Archtop Priced for Condition - Read
Shipping: $80
Description
Got a super funky 125 in right now! The original label is missing, and the FON number appears to read 359 11, though the 9 is missing the bottom half and faded so it could be something else. The back and sides appear to be mahogany, and the top looks like it may be too (though it is laminated). Looking at other listings, forums, and especially Jake Wildwood's listings this does appear closet to a 1948 model. I'm judging this based on the tuners, knobs and tailpiece especially. Pickup sounds freaking amazing - super heavy bass but clear tone. Acoustically not bad either! Frets have some divets but plays clear with the action at 2.5-2mm on the Es
Now to the issues that it's priced for. The back bracing needs to be completely redone. The one closest to the neck is totally gone, the middle one is mostly gone, and the bottom one is halfway unglued. It feels sturdy and has been stored this way for at least a few years. I noticed no signs or sounds of instability when tuning it up with 12 gauge flatwounds. Next up, the pickup has been soldered at some point and *may* not be totally original. It's hard to tell on these things but it definitely fits the bill as an earlier P90. Thirdly, one of the tuner buttons is a bit melted or warped. Finally, lots of finish wear over the whole thing as shown in pictures. But that really just adds the mojo!
