Used Epiphone B.B. King Lucille Electric Guitar

Description

The Epiphone B.B. King Lucille is a distinctive signature electric guitar inspired by the legendary instrument associated with blues icon B.B. King. Based around the classic ES-style double-cutaway platform, the Lucille combines elegant appointments, dual-humbucker versatility, and several specialized features that distinguish it from a conventional semi-hollow guitar.

One of the Lucille's defining characteristics is its ES-style body without traditional F-holes. This gives the guitar its immediately recognizable appearance while helping reduce the feedback concerns that can come with amplified hollow and semi-hollow instruments at higher stage volumes. Combined with dual humbuckers, the result is a smooth, substantial electric voice equally comfortable with warm cleans, expressive blues leads, jazz-influenced chord work, and driven rock tones.

Another signature feature is the Varitone rotary control, which provides multiple tonal voicings beyond those available from standard pickup switching and tone controls. Moving through the Varitone settings can produce everything from full-bodied traditional humbucker sounds to leaner, more focused textures, making the Lucille particularly useful for players who like shaping a wide range of sounds directly from the guitar.

The Lucille is naturally at home playing blues, but its capabilities extend well beyond that genre. It is an excellent choice for soul, R&B, jazz, classic rock, roots music, gospel, and studio work. The neck pickup can provide warm and rounded clean tones, while the bridge pickup supplies additional definition and bite for solos and rhythm parts.

With its distinctive styling, signature electronics, and connection to one of the most influential electric guitarists in history, the Epiphone B.B. King Lucille is both a serious player's instrument and an appealing addition to a blues-focused guitar collection. Epiphone has produced multiple versions of the Lucille over the years, so please refer carefully to the photos for this example's exact production era, pickups, Varitone configuration, hardware, bridge and tailpiece, tuners, stereo/mono connections if applicable, serial number, factory markings, case, and included accessories.
