Used Fender 1989 Power Jazz Bass MIJ Modified Vintage

Description

This 1989 Fender Power Jazz Bass is a vintage Made in Japan Fender that combines classic Jazz Bass ergonomics with the more modern, performance-oriented approach Fender explored during the late 1980s. Japanese Fender instruments from this era have developed a strong following among players who appreciate their build quality, comfortable necks, and distinctive period specifications.

The Power Jazz Bass platform takes the familiar offset Jazz Bass shape in a more contemporary direction, making it a compelling choice for players who want vintage Fender character without being limited to a completely traditional J-Bass configuration. It is well suited for rock, funk, alternative, fusion, pop, R&B, progressive music, and studio work, with the comfortable body shape and neck access expected from a Jazz Bass.

This particular bass has been modified from its original factory configuration. Because modifications can significantly affect the electronics, pickups, hardware, controls, tone, and collector originality of a vintage instrument, we recommend reviewing the photos carefully for the exact configuration of this example. It should be considered a player's vintage bass rather than represented as an untouched, all-original collector piece.

For recording, a modified vintage Jazz Bass can be an especially versatile instrument. Depending on the electronics currently installed, it can work well directly into a DI or recording interface, through a traditional bass amplifier, or as part of a pedal-based setup. Its late-'80s Japanese Fender construction also gives it an identity distinct from both traditional vintage-spec Jazz Basses and current-production models.

For players searching for an unusual late-1980s MIJ Fender, this Power Jazz Bass offers genuine vintage-era appeal along with the individuality of a modified instrument. Please refer to the photos for the exact pickups, electronics, control configuration, bridge, tuners, finish, neck and fingerboard specifications, modifications, serial markings, and included accessories.
