Used Nordstrand Acinonyx Bass Guitar

Description

The Nordstrand Acinonyx Bass is a distinctive short-scale electric bass designed around fast response, comfortable playability, and a broad palette of vintage-inspired tones. Created by renowned pickup and bass designer Carey Nordstrand, the Acinonyx takes inspiration from quirky short-scale instruments of the 1960s while refining the concept into a practical modern player's bass.

One of the Acinonyx's defining characteristics is its short-scale design, which gives the strings a softer, more compliant feel than a typical long-scale bass. The compact proportions make it comfortable for long sessions, quick position changes, and players who prefer less reach between frets. Despite the smaller format, the Acinonyx can produce a substantial bass sound that works equally well for supportive traditional lines and more expressive playing.

The unusual push-button switching system is a major part of the instrument's personality. Rather than relying solely on a conventional pickup selector, the controls provide quick access to contrasting tonal options, giving the bass an unmistakable retro feel while remaining highly useful in a modern performance environment.

Tonally, the Acinonyx is an excellent fit for indie, alternative, soul, funk, R&B, pop, rock, surf, garage, Americana, and studio work. Its short-scale response can produce a punchy fundamental that sits naturally in a mix, making it particularly appealing to recording bassists and multi-instrumentalists looking for a sound that differs from conventional P- and J-style instruments.

Nordstrand has offered the Acinonyx in different versions and configurations, so please refer to the photos for the exact model generation, finish, pickups, controls, fingerboard, bridge, tuners, hardware, serial information, and included case or accessories.
