Used G&L L-2500 USA Vintage 5-String Bass Guitar

Description

The G&L L-2500 USA is a professional American-made 5-string bass built around the powerful electronics and hardware concepts developed by Leo Fender and G&L. The L-2500 has long been a favorite among players who need a broad tonal range from a single instrument, combining muscular humbucker tones, active/passive flexibility, and a strong low-B response in a traditional full-size bass format.

At the heart of the L-2500 are its dual Magnetic Field Design humbucking pickups and versatile control system. The electronics allow the bass to move from warm, supportive sounds to aggressive, cutting tones with plenty of output. This flexibility makes the L-2500 particularly useful for players who regularly move between different musical styles or need several distinct bass sounds during a set.

The fifth string extends the instrument's lower register, making it an excellent choice for rock, funk, gospel, R&B, fusion, progressive music, metal, pop, worship, and session work. The L-2500 can deliver deep foundational lows while maintaining the articulation needed for fingerstyle, pick playing, slap, and more technical approaches.

In the studio, the L-2500 is particularly useful because of its tonal flexibility. It can provide a strong direct signal for recording, while its active/passive options and extensive onboard controls allow players to shape the sound before it reaches an interface, preamp, amplifier, or DI. It can cover everything from restrained supporting bass parts to aggressive modern tones without requiring a different instrument.

This is an older USA-made example and should be treated as a vintage/older used instrument rather than assumed to match current-production specifications. G&L L-2500 specifications have changed across different production periods, so please refer carefully to the photos and instrument for the exact year, finish, woods, neck profile, fingerboard, electronics, switches, bridge, tuners, serial number, and originality.
