Used Ernie Ball Music Man Bongo 6-String Electric Bass Guitar

Description

The Ernie Ball Music Man Bongo 6 is a premium six-string electric bass that combines bold modern styling, exceptional playability, and powerful active electronics. Designed for bassists who demand extended range, tonal versatility, and professional performance, the Bongo 6 stands out as one of Music Man's most distinctive instruments.

Originally developed in collaboration with the BMW Designworks team, the Bongo features a futuristic, sculpted body shape that sets it apart from traditional bass guitar designs. Its contoured construction provides a comfortable playing experience while giving the instrument an unmistakable visual identity.

The six-string configuration expands the standard bass range with an additional low B string and high C string. This makes the Bongo 6 especially appealing to progressive rock, jazz fusion, metal, gospel, and contemporary bass players who need access to extended low notes, higher melodic passages, and complex chord voicings.

One of the Bongo's defining characteristics is its powerful 18-volt active electronics system. This design provides substantial headroom, a strong output signal, and excellent tonal flexibility for both live performances and studio recording.

The Bongo 6 is known for its distinctive Music Man pickup designs, delivering deep lows, articulate mids, and clear highs. Depending on the production year and configuration, Bongo models may feature different pickup arrangements, including dual humbuckers or other factory options.

Its active EQ allows players to shape their sound for a wide range of musical situations. From tight, punchy fingerstyle tones to aggressive pick-driven sounds and articulate slap techniques, the Bongo offers the flexibility needed for demanding performances.

The instrument's extended-range neck and modern body contours make it especially useful for technical bass playing. Its six-string layout supports advanced chord voicings, tapping, melodic solos, and intricate bass lines while retaining the powerful low-frequency foundation expected from a professional electric bass.

The Bongo's modern tonal character is particularly effective for progressive metal, fusion, funk, gospel, modern rock, and contemporary worship music. Its articulate response helps complex bass passages remain clear even in dense musical arrangements.

In the recording studio, the Bongo 6 excels at delivering a strong, defined signal for direct recording or amplification. Its active electronics provide excellent clarity and tonal control, making it useful for tracking extended-range bass lines, intricate fills, and detailed modern bass arrangements.

The Bongo series has also earned recognition among professional bassists who appreciate instruments that combine unconventional design with exceptional functionality.

Whether you're an experienced six-string bassist, a progressive musician exploring extended-range instruments, or a player looking for a distinctive premium bass, the Ernie Ball Music Man Bongo 6 delivers powerful tone, modern versatility, and unmistakable Music Man character.
