- This Hofner Violin Bass is great for collectors or players, with original hardware, and electronics it's guaranteed to give you that iconic Macca sound. Through certain construction and parts, we were able to date it to 1965-66. We would consider this Bass to be in Good condition, It has some finish checking, and some spots we've photographed where it seems to be lifting, but this isn't unusual for a 60 year old piece. The neck was separated when we acquired it, but it has been reset perfectly by master luthier Bob Rigaud, and plays like new. The original output jack had a damaged prong, and has been replaced. The Pickups and the rest of the harness/controls are original. We've strung this bass with appropriate Hofner flatwound strings, and have it setup to play very comfortably.
