Overview

The Alesis MicroLimiter is a classic American-made half-rack compressor/limiter from Alesis’ early “Micro Series” line. Built in Los Angeles during the late 1980s and early 1990s, the MicroLimiter became popular in home studios, small project studios, and live rigs for its simple controls, transparent limiting, and reliable analog circuitry.

This unit features traditional analog compression/limiting designed to prevent clipping and tame dynamic peaks while preserving clarity. It’s especially useful on vocals, bass, drum machines, keyboards, and mix buses where peak control is critical. The front panel includes Input, Release, and Output controls along with a multi-LED input level meter and an In/Out bypass switch for quick A/B comparison.

Unlike many later budget rack processors, this early Micro series unit was Made in USA and built with solid metal chassis construction, making it durable and studio-ready.
