The Marshall ED-1 “Edward the Compressor” is a versatile guitar compressor pedal designed to add sustain, tighten dynamics, and enhance overall tone clarity. Part of Marshall’s well-regarded ED series pedals, the ED-1 delivers studio-style compression with flexible tone shaping options that work well for clean tones, country-style picking, funk rhythms, and sustaining lead lines.

Unlike many simple compressor pedals, the ED-1 offers expanded control with dedicated knobs for Emphasis, Volume, Attack, and Compression. The Emphasis control allows players to shape the frequency response of the compression, helping preserve low-end punch or add clarity to higher frequencies. Attack adjusts how quickly the compression engages, while the Compression control determines the overall amount of dynamic control applied to the signal.

Built with Marshall’s durable metal enclosure and distinctive angled design, the ED-1 is rugged enough for gigging while remaining easy to dial in on a pedalboard.
