Used Greco Violin Bass – Vintage Japanese Sunburst – Headstock Repair – Read Description
This vintage Greco violin-style electric bass features a classic sunburst finish, hollow violin-shaped body, and Japanese-made construction. Inspired by the iconic violin bass design, this instrument offers distinctive vintage styling with dual pickups, traditional controls, and a compact body design.
The bass features a rosewood fingerboard with rectangular inlays, dual pickups, a pickup selector switch, two control knobs, and a covered bridge and tailpiece assembly. Decorative body binding and violin-style F-holes complete its vintage appearance.
This instrument has experienced considerable use and shows extensive cosmetic wear throughout. Most importantly, there is evidence of a previous repair around the back of the headstock/neck transition, along with wear to the truss rod adjustment nut. These issues are detailed below and should be carefully reviewed before purchasing.

Condition:
This bass is in fair used condition with extensive cosmetic wear, a visible apparent previous headstock/neck repair, and wear to the truss rod adjustment nut.
BODY:
The front of the body exhibits numerous scratches, scuffs, small dents, and finish marks. Extensive finish checking is present throughout, including several long vertical lines extending across the lower portion of the body beneath the bridge and tailpiece.
The body edges and binding show substantial wear, including numerous chips, scratches, and areas of missing finish. Several areas around the corners and edges have exposed underlying material.
The sides of the instrument show additional finish chips, scratches, and general wear along the binding.
The back of the body exhibits extensive finish checking, numerous scratches, and areas of abrasion and discoloration. Several long vertical finish cracks are visible, along with additional chips and finish loss around the perimeter.
IMPORTANT – PREVIOUS HEADSTOCK/NECK REPAIR:
The back of the headstock/neck transition shows evidence consistent with a previous repair. There is a prominent irregular repair line, extensive surrounding finish cracking, discoloration, and a circular plugged or filled area.
The exact nature and history of this repair are unknown. We cannot confirm the repair method or its long-term structural integrity. Please carefully examine the close-up photographs of this area before purchasing.
IMPORTANT – TRUSS ROD:
The truss rod adjustment nut is slightly stripped and shows visible wear. The nut can still be turned, but the worn condition may make future adjustments more difficult.
The full adjustment range and effectiveness of the truss rod have not been confirmed. Additional maintenance or repair may eventually be necessary.
NECK AND HARDWARE:
The neck shows additional scratches, finish wear, and checking consistent with the instrument's age. The fingerboard and frets show signs of previous use.
The chrome hardware exhibits scratches, tarnishing, and general cosmetic aging. The pickup surrounds, pickguard, control plate, and bridge cover also show surface wear.
The instrument includes a Road Runner gig bag.
IMPORTANT:
This is a heavily worn vintage instrument with a previous apparent headstock/neck repair and a worn truss rod adjustment nut. These issues have been taken into consideration when pricing the bass.
Buyers should understand that this instrument may require additional maintenance or professional attention. The repair history and long-term structural condition cannot be guaranteed.
Please carefully review all photographs, particularly the close-up images of the headstock/neck repair, body finish checking, edge damage, and other cosmetic wear, as they are an important part of the condition description.
A distinctive vintage Japanese Greco violin-style bass offering classic looks and character for a player or collector comfortable with its documented condition.
