Vintage A. Fontaine Paris Metal Bb Clarinet w/ Case – Repaired – Read Description

This is a vintage A. Fontaine metal clarinet bearing the A. FONTAINE PARIS marking on the bell.

Dating from approximately the early 20th century, this instrument features an all-metal body with vintage keywork and represents an interesting surviving example of the metal clarinets produced during the first half of the 20th century.

PLEASE NOTE: This is an older instrument with considerable cosmetic wear and evidence of previous repair. Please read the complete condition description and review all photos carefully before purchasing.

Condition:

This clarinet is in fair vintage condition and shows substantial wear consistent with its age.

The metal body and keywork show scratches, scuffs, tarnishing, oxidation, discoloration and areas of finish/plating wear throughout.

IMPORTANT: There is a large area on the body that appears to have been previously repaired/soldered. The repair is visibly rough and is clearly shown in the close-up photographs. This previous repair is being disclosed as part of the instrument's condition and has been taken into consideration when determining the price.

The keys and mechanisms show considerable age-related discoloration and wear. Pads, corks and other consumable components should be considered used and may require adjustment or replacement depending on the player's requirements.

The cork at the upper joint also shows noticeable age and wear.

The included vintage hard case shows considerable exterior wear, including scuffs, marks, edge wear and other signs of age and use.

Due to the age of the instrument, previous repair and overall cosmetic condition, we strongly recommend reviewing all photographs carefully for the best representation of its condition.
