The Ludwig Pioneer 1960s snare drum is a vintage 3-ply mahogany/poplar/mahogany snare with reinforcing rings, finished in classic white marine pearl. This drum features original-style lugs, triple-flanged hoops, and a tone that defined countless recordings of the era. Condition is very good for its age, with natural yellowing to the wrap, light scuffs, and small cosmetic marks consistent with decades of careful use. Chrome hardware shows some minor pitting but functions smoothly. This is a true vintage Ludwig snare drum with loads of character and unmistakable mojo.

Tonally, the Pioneer delivers a warm, woody crack with controlled overtones and a fat low end that sits beautifully in a mix. It’s an excellent choice for classic rock, soul, jazz, blues, and studio work where touch and feel matter.
