Used Adam Krefman AK5 Figured White Oak/Sugar Maple Open Back 5-string Banjo

Lovingly handcrafted by Oak Park, IL-based luthier Adam Krefman from 11/21 to 2/22, this visually compelling and eminently playable 10 3/4" rim, 26 3/16" scale open back banjo boasts the resonant, saturated response of figured White Oak for its rim and neck, sustainably sourced from felled Chicago area populations.

Low, even action across a striking birdseye Sugar Maple (hard maple) fingerboard with a 1 1/4" nut offers a silky hardwood response, similar in feel to ebony or rosewood. With a custom cast bronze tension hoop designed by the builder and cast in Broadview, IL and a genuine goat skin head responsibly prepared by Jeff Menzies in Jamaica, this inspired instrument is more than ready for any live or studio session. 

The neck heel was glued to the body shaft in an attempt to correct the pull from metal strings. This banjo is meant to have nylon or gut strings. The gluing process appears to have shifted the angle of the strings as they appear in the photo. This should be looked at as a project and is being sold as-is.

All used items are tested for functionality to the best of our abilities at the time of store purchase and once again before being shipped. Any included accessories will be shown in the photos. If there are any functional issues, they will be noted here. There is often wear from use that is not easily photographed. All store items are displayed in-store and able to be handled by customers, so additional demo wear can occur.
