Vintage 14" Chrome Metal 8-Lug Snare Drum - 1960s-70s Style - Read Description

This is an interesting vintage 14" metal-shell snare drum featuring an 8-lug configuration, horizontally ribbed chrome shell, internal adjustable muffler and period-style snare hardware.

The drum does not currently have a manufacturer badge, model number, serial number or visible country-of-origin marking.

After researching the shell design, lug configuration, strainer hardware and other construction details, we believe this drum likely dates from approximately the 1960s-1970s. The construction shows similarities to Japanese-made drums from the period, including vintage Pearl designs. However, we have not found enough identifying information to confidently attribute the drum to Pearl or any other specific manufacturer.

For that reason, we are selling and describing it as an unidentified vintage snare rather than representing it as a confirmed Pearl or Japanese-made drum.

Condition:

Fair vintage condition with cosmetic wear consistent with age and use.

The chrome shell, hoops and hardware show scratches, oxidation, discoloration, pitting and areas of surface corrosion. The heads show substantial previous use and cosmetic wear.

There is tape present around portions of the snare mounting/strap hardware as pictured. No manufacturer badge is currently installed, and we cannot confirm whether a badge was originally present or what manufacturer produced the drum.

The snare mechanism, internal muffler and other hardware are present as pictured.
